Father John Dafforn * Ellis , a Non- Conformist., baptised 6/8/1772 Berkswell Warwick

John was made a Burgess of Bristol on 22/6/1812 (They were ‘the body of townsmen who, from the Middle Ages, chose the mayor by acclamation and from their ranks until 1835 were chosen the mayor, sheriff, aldermen and all the councillors of the town’.)

?? John a slave owner of John and Rhoda (DOB 1810) and Marie, Creoles from the Berry Islands  part of the Bahamas July 1834.

John name appears on a Quaker register in Liverpool on 26/11/35 and then shows up on an Outwards Certificate on a Quaker register on 30/11/37, meaning that he and his family were  leaving one meeting of Quakers to join another. 

In 1832 John is a Tea Dealer in Union Street, in the Parish of St James, Gloucestershire

Born 1772. Died ?14/11/1884 in Clifton age 72

Buried in the Quakers Friars Burial Ground where the graves were removed in 1956

1st marriage to Rebecca Clarke on 14/04/1803, she died in 1812 and is buried at St Augustine at the Well, Bristol.

2nd marriage to Elizabeth Fry (widow) 16/07/1817 in Plymouth.

*Martha Dafforne , I’m not sure if there is a link between the names but Martha show’s up on a list of prisoners in Newgate Prison on 1/1/1663, when 214 Anabaptists and Quakers were committed by Sir Richard Browne, Knight and Baronette for attending an unlawful assembly contrary to a late Act of Parliament on 23/11/1662, refusing to take the oath of allegiance.

Frederick DOB 4/12/1814, Gloucester Street, Finsbury, London

Married to Caroline Ann Fleming on 8/3/1838 at St Pancras Parish Chapel, Caroline now aged 20.

They moved to Widcombe in 1841and then to Kent in 1847.

In 1851 they are living in St Giles, Camberwell, Frederick is an Importer of  Foreign and Fancy Goods. By 1861 they are living at Stirling Terrace in Lambeth and Frederick is now a Commercial Traveller. Frederick dies in 1861 at the age of 47, in Holborn.

In 1865 Caroline is living in Islington.

Agnes 5 month born in 1841 , dies in 1924

The Mountfords have 5 more daughters and 3 sons.

Born in Middlesex , by 1861 Mary has moved to Kensington and then 10 Oxford Road Willesden.

In 1872 at the age of 75 she has been working as a char lady and is admitted to St Marylebone, Northumberland St, Workhouse

Died in either 1882 buried in Lansdown or 1884 buried in Walcot

DOB 23/10/1868 in Bath 

Starts out as an errand / office boy in 1881 at the age of 12

By 1891 at the age of 22 he has become an engine fitter. His father was a cabinet maker living in Carlton Road

Edith M Coward aged 36 wife of above, DOB 1875, married Walter in ?1906

In 1901 he is single and still living with his parents, he is now a Gas Engine maker and an ‘employer’, living in Gordon Road. 

In 1939 Walter is part owner of a General Engineering Company and has moved to Chaucer Road. 

Walter and Edith have a daughter, Barbara born 11/09/14

Barbara becomes a shorthand typist and Secretary to the Mayor

Barbara marries William Frederick Holbrook (DOB 11/1/1890)  a town clerk on 6/8/62. They lived at 4 Bloomfield Drive.

Frederick Morris age 33, Schoolmaster Assistant for Bath Education Committee, appointed December 1896, salary £50 per annum.

Frederick died in 1948 aged 70, he was baptised as an adult aged 17 in 1895
